Bonnie and Tim first met in September 2005 when Bonnie was invited to Tim's place by his roommate for a BBQ. At this first meeting there was not a lot of interest on Bonnie's part as Tim had a very large beard and looked like a bushman... kinda scared Bonnie!!
It was six months later (St. Patrick's Day 2006) when two of Tim's roommates had a goatee night (don't ask) that some interest was sparked (Tim no longer had a full beard, just a goatee). Bonnie and one of her friends wanted to go dancing that night and one of Tim's roommates and another friend had said they would go with the girls. Bonnie and her friend went home and got ready to go dancing, but when they came back the two guys no longer wanted to go. So Tim, being such a gentleman, and not wanting to see the girls all dressed up with no place to go, offered to go with them. So they went out dancing, had a great time and by the end of the night both Bonnie and Tim were thinking, "Hmmm, not bad!"
The next night the young adults at Tim's church had a "Menno-night". Tim's roommate had invited Bonnie along. Afterwards the guys dropped Bonnie off at home, and later Bonnie and Tim started chatting on MSN. Bonnie asked, "Are you going to get any studying done tonight?" to which Tim replied, "Probably not." This is Tim's favourite part - he thought he was being smooth! Bonnie said, "Why not? Do you have a hot date?" Tim answered, "I wish," followed by, "Hey, wanna go on a date?" and to his surprise, Bonnie replied, "Sure!"
So, Bonnie (being the one with the vehicle) went over to Tim's place where they watched Shrek, ate Vanilla Chocolate Fudge Crackle ice cream, played 20 questions, and listened to music until 2 am. After this they started to spend more time together, and began to study for exams together. It was not until early in the tree planting season that summer of 2006 that they became an actual couple, even though if you asked, everyone they knew said they were "dating". Tim was spending his nights off from planting at Bonnie's parents' place, and officially "asked Bonnie out" on one of those nights, May 14, 2006.
